Cold email architecture

What if your cold email filled your pipeline instead of the void?

I dig your cold email out of spam and into replies, so you can get back to winning the work.

The groundwork

I torched 97 domains so you don't.

You're scared it'll make you look stupid. You spent years building your name. One lazy campaign and prospects see a spammer, not an expert.

Volume is not a strategy. In 2020 I ran 20 domains and 100 email accounts at a time. The inboxes alone cost $900 a month. The setup worked for 3 weeks. Then the replies stopped.

Gmail and Outlook watch 2 things.Patterns in your email, like templates, "bumping this" and "quick question". And what prospects do with it. If they ignore you, delete you or mark you as spam, next time you don't reach primary.

New domains inherit the same mistakes. You rotate domains, rewrite copy, try another tool. Nothing changes, because the problem is underneath.

Hours go into rewriting copy while the structure stays broken.Subject lines don't matter when you never reach primary. Architecture does.

Soil & stone

20 years of landscape architecture. Then email.

Charles Hambley at a Marbella garden he designed and built, infinity pool and thatched cabana behind

Built show gardens at Chelsea in 2000 and 2001. Then gardens for Marbella mansions, for high-net-worth clients with very specific taste. Properties with 4 pools, one with a window in the bottom so you could wave from the bar below. Plants delivered in refrigerated trucks from Italy and craned over the house, hand-chipped Casares stone, and a mountain cut to frame the view. The last one sold for €23M.

Details nobody noticed on the plan decided how the place worked. Cold email works the same way. Rewrite the subject line all week and nothing changes. Replies depend on the architecture underneath.

My dad told me I was just a gardener. Turns out that was the training.

The blueprint

Quality before volume.

1 rule: nothing scales until the segment replies.

Phase 1 | Survey

Placement

Inbox placement tests with real campaign emails across Gmail and Outlook. Domain health, DNS and authentication fixed. Proven with full before-and-after reports.

No links. No HTML. Nothing that looks like a pattern.

Phase 2 | Grading

Targeting

Your list validated, then cut into real segments, each researched and written to differently.

Your campaign has 30 people in it, not 1,000.

Phase 3 | Planting

Copy & handover

Campaigns and lead magnets written, then training and SOPs handed to your team. Nothing held back for the next retainer.

No call asks. Each email offers something useful. The call comes after they've used it.

In email, the personality is the prospect. The expertise is you.

I work my way or not at all. The rules exist because Gmail and Outlook are always watching. As soon as you take a shortcut, you burn a domain.

Working with Charlie was an absolute pleasure, he was proactive, responsive and very well equipped to fix our domain quality and reputation issues. Charlie went above and beyond and delivered fantastic results for us, I would highly recommend working with him.

Akhil V. | Domain health and deliverability audit

Charlie is prompt and competent. I hired him to fix email deliverability issues, specifically related to Google's tightening its compliance for bulk senders. He got us compliant in a few days, and we are now able to send to our entire list again without major issues.

Email deliverability client | October 2025

Charlie was brilliant at diagnosing my email issues and promptly fixing them. As well as giving me a useful roadmap about how to keep on top of my email health going forwards.

Deliverability troubleshooting client | July 2026

Charlie did a fantastic job and solved our problem efficiently and on time. I've already recommended him to others and am happy to continue doing so.

Internal email delivery failure | April 2026

Questions founders ask

Before we talk.

Who is this for?

Founders and principals of teams of 3 to 30 who still win the work themselves, where nobody on the team owns cold email.

Do you write the emails?

I build the analysis and the prompts until the copy comes out right. AI does the research: it enriches each prospect and pulls the most relevant facts. The offer, positioning and angles for each segment are decided first and signed off by you before anything sends.

How many emails do you send?

Low volume. Around 10 a day per inbox, 3 emails, 7 days apart.

Who pays for the tools?

You do, on your own accounts. You own everything.

Do you work in my industry?

So far that's included private equity, oil and gas engineering, and analyst-led research firms. Everyone wants clients.
